Creating Lists
A team list is both a distribution list for messages to a group of SMS and email recipients, and controls who is authorized to send messages.
What is a Team List?
Each team list has its own email address (e.g., myteam@tmsg.de). When a message arrives at this address, TeamMessage checks if the sender is authorized. If yes, the message is forwarded to all recipients in the list.
Unauthorized senders receive a rejection notice.
Multiple Lists
You can create multiple team lists. Each list is like a mailing list for email and SMS, and can contain any number of email addresses and phone numbers.
Examples:
myteam@tmsg.de– Main list for general messagesmyteam-alerts@tmsg.de– Alerts from monitoring systemsmyteam-oncall@tmsg.de– On-call team with voice delivery
Creating a New List
In your dashboard, go to 'Team Lists' and click 'New List'. You'll need to specify:
- Email Address – The unique address for this list (e.g., myteam-alerts@tmsg.de)
- Description – A name or comment to identify the list (e.g., 'Server Monitoring Alerts')
List Settings
Each team list has settings that control how messages are processed:
Closed Group
When enabled (default), only authorized senders can send to the list. This prevents spam and unauthorized access.
Tip
Keep 'Closed Group' enabled for security. Add authorized senders in the list settings.
Delivery Method
Choose how messages are delivered to recipients:
- SMS (Standard) – Messages are sent as SMS to mobile phones
- Voice Call – Messages trigger a phone call with text-to-speech
- Fax – Messages are sent as fax
SMS Sender ID
Configure the sender name that appears on recipients' phones. Can be set to your team name or a custom identifier.
Delivery Reports
Optionally receive confirmation when messages are delivered. Reports can be sent to a specified email address.
Advanced Settings
Additional options are available for specific use cases:
- Rate Limiting – Limit the number of messages per time period
- HTTP Access – Enable the HTTP API for programmatic sending
- IP Whitelist – Restrict HTTP API access to specific IP addresses
- Scheduled Messages – Enable the event calendar for timed delivery
